Music is one of the most important things that a user has in his/her phone and as Apple uses its poplar iTunes software, transferring music from your iPhone to your Android phone can take a lot of time. For  transferring music, you won’t need to use your iPhone but you’ll need a PC and the iTunes application installed on the PC with your music database. Here are the methods that you can use to transfer music from iTunes to Android.

Method 1: Manual Transfer

This is probably the easiest and fastest method for transferring your iTunes library to your Android device. Previously, this method wasn’t available to transfer music from iTunes to Android devices as Apple used DRM to lock their music for specific devices which meant that you couldn’t use the music from iTunes on other devices. However, DRM is no longer used for music on iTunes which means that you can now manually transfer your iTunes library to your Android device.

Step 1

Connect your Android device to your PC using a micro USB cable. Make sure that you are connected in storage mode. Some Android devices show it as disk drive while others show it as mass storage mode. Whatever phone you are using, just make sure that your device is connected to your PC in storage mode so that you can transfer files between your PC and your phone.

Step 2

After you connect your device to your PC, open your phone’s storage drive. This can be done easily by going to My Computer and clicking on your removable storage drive. It will either show as your phone’s name or as an external removable storage drive. Alternatively, you will also get an AutoPlay pop up once you connect your device to your PC. You can simply click on  Open folder to view files in order to directly open your phone’s storage drive.

Step 3

Now, browse to the Music folder on your phone’s storage drive from your PC or go to any other folder where you want to save your music library.

Step 4

Go to Start or open My Computer on your PC and click on the Music folder. While in the Music folder, open iTunes/iTunes Media/Music. This is the directory where your iTunes music library might be saved on your PC.

Step 5

You can now copy the entire folder or some specific tracks from your iTunes music folder to the Android storage directory that  you opened on your PC earlier. After you have copied the folder or the relevant files, simply unplug your Android device from your PC. Your iTunes music should now be available on your Android phone.

Method 2: DoubleTwist

DoubleTwist is a popular music player for Android and also has a PC application for syncing your iTunes music library onto your Android device. This is one of the most popular ways of transferring music from iTunes to an Android device. Other than music, DoubleTwist also lets you transfer your iTunes videos to your Android device.

Step 1

Download and install the DoubleTwist application on your PC.

Step 2

Open the DoubleTwist app and it will scan your computer for all the media stored on your PC. This might take a while. Once the library has been imported, your entire iTunes library will be available in the DoubleTwist app.

Step 3

Next connect your Android device to your PC in mass storage mode using a micro USB cable. After your device is connected, DoubleTwist will show the name of your device under the DEVICES tab. Click on your device’s name once it is appears in DoubleTwist.

Step 4

Next, check on Music (All Music) if you want to sync your entire iTunes library stored on your PC onto your Android device. You can also sync videos by checking Videos (All Videos). Now, press the Sync button at the bottom right hand corner. This should start the syncing process and might take a while.

Alternatively, you can drag individual music tracks in DoubleTwist by going to Music under the LIBRARY tab and drop those files to your device name under the DEVICES tab. Once you have copied the files or once the syncing process is complete, you can unplug your device and your iTunes library should now be available on your Android phone.

Method 3: Google Music Manager

Google Music Manager is another way to transfer music from iTunes to an Android smartphone or tablet. The Music Manager basically stores your iTunes music library over the cloud and allows you to stream this music library directly on your Android device on the Google Play Music app via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G.

Step 1

Download and install Google Music Manager on your PC. Once downloaded, you can install the app like any other PC application.

Step 2

Open the application on your PC and sign in with your Google ID and password. Make sure that you use the same login ID that you use on your Android device.

Step 3

Next, you will get a popup saying What would you like to do. Select Upload songs to Google Play and click on Continue.

Step 4

Select the iTunes option and click on Continue.

Step 5

Now, select Upload all songs and playlists if you want to transfer your entire iTunes library to your Android phone. Alternatively, you can select individual songs and playlists.

Step 6

You will now get a popup asking if you want to automatically upload songs when you add them to iTunes in the future. Click on Yes if you want to transfer music automatically from your future iTunes purchases to your Android device.

Step 7

Now, download and install the Google Play Music app on your Android device if you don’t already have it installed. You can download it using the Google Play button below.

Step 8

Make sure that you are logged in to your Google account on your Android device. Open the Google Play Music app on your phone and your iTunes library should now be available to stream via Cloud. If you checked the automatically uploading music option earlier, any song that you add to iTunes on your PC should automatically be added in your Google Play Music app.

Step 2

Run the application on your PC and connect your Android device to your PC via a micro USB cable. You can also connect your phone to your PC using your Wi-Fi connection. Your Android device should now appear under the Devices tab in Android Transfer.

Step 3

Click on the Import iTunes Playlists icon at the bottom of the main window of the application.

Step 4

You should now get a popup with all your iTunes playlists. You can either select all your playlists or choose individual songs from different playlists. After selecting, click on OK. You might get a popup asking if you want to convert the music files to an Android optimized format. Select Yes if you want to convert the files for a better playback on your Android device.
