Because while an Android Smart Watch is a futuristic device, the best-looking ones are still reminiscent of their analog brothers. They often have that classic look and feel. If yours does not, you can just customize it for a more timeless look (metaphorically, not literally). To get started, you just need your Android phone, your Wear OS device, and some patience for downloading. Let’s get into it.
Using the Facer App
There are two apps that I recommend you use to install a custom Rolex watch face, first of which is Facer. This app alone gives you access to 15,000 free and premium watch faces, and designs are added weekly by various brands and the Facer community. If nothing catches your fancy, you can even make your own design. Facer also claims that it is trusted by millions of smartwatch users, and it has the download numbers to show it. Ready? Follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Download the Facer app and open it. Take note that while this is free to download, they have a monthly Premium plan which gives you access to more watch faces (bringing the total to 75,000) and removes ads. If you prefer paying just a one-time fee, they also have a Plus plan that removes ads and gives you a slew of other features.
Step 2:
You’ll then be asked to select the Wear OS device that you’re using. If you can’t find your smartwatch on the list, don’t worry. Pick a similar model. One great thing about Facer is that it’s compatible with all Wear OS devices.
Step 3:
If you haven’t already, download the Facer companion app on your watch as well. Make sure that you’ve selected Facer as the watch face.
Step 4:
On the app on your phone, you have the option to search and install various custom watch faces. But if you go ahead and search for a Rolex design, the results sort of come up short.
Step 5:
Instead, do a quick search of custom Rolex watch faces on your mobile browser. There are some beautiful Rolex designs available in repositories and forums like XDA Developers. Choose the design you want, then download it on your phone.
Step 6:
If you opt to download the design on your laptop, you can do so too. Just remember to copy the file to your phone afterwards.
Step 7:
Once you’ve downloaded the file, go back to the Facer app. Go to your Watchbox page by selecting the heart icon on the bottom menu.
Step 8:
Select the Import button. This is the watch button on the upper right. If you’re unable to do so, try setting permission first by going to Settings > Apps > Facer > Permissions then toggling Storage.
Step 9:
Locate the file that you’ve downloaded, then import it. The design will now appear in your Facer app.
Step 10:
Make sure that your phone is connected to your watch. Go to the Rolex watch face you want to use, then tap the sync button. Take note that it might take some time for the sync to finish.
Using the Watchmaker App
Another app that you can use to get a custom Rolex design is Watchmaker, which claims that it’s the world’s largest watch face community. With it, you can browse more than 60,000 watch faces, with over 50 designs added daily. And like Facer, it has more than a million downloads on the Google Play store and offers you the ability to create your own design. Now moving on . . .
Step 1:
Download the Watchmaker app and open it. You can download the free app or its premium version ($7.99), which gives you access to the full selection and removes ads. You also have the option to upgrade in-app when you download the free version.
Step 2:
The process here is similar with the Facer app. You’ll be asked to select the Wear OS device that you’re using, set permissions for the app to access your storage folders, and download the companion app on your watch.
Step 3:
You’ll then be taken to the Watchmaker homepage where you can browse tons of watch faces. Type “Rolex” in the search box and you’ll get a couple of beautiful designs. Getting any of these would require you to upgrade to the premium plan, though.
Step 4:
Select the design you want and sync it to your watch by tapping the green button.
Step 5:
Alternatively, you can also search for other Rolex watch faces in your mobile browser. There are some nice designs on the watchfaces.be website, for example. Download your chosen design to your phone.
Step 6:
Import the design in your Watchmaker app by going to My Watches (the rightmost icon in the bottom menu). Click on the upper right, vertical ellipsis menu then select Import Watch.
Step 7:
